Guide
Digital wellbeing app for Instagram
Most digital wellbeing apps track your screen time or lock apps entirely. Zen Social does something different: it opens Instagram inside a filtered browser and removes the specific content that makes the app addictive.
How it works
The app explains what it blocks before you start
Why generic wellbeing apps fall short
Screen time trackers tell you how long you've been scrolling. App lockers block Instagram entirely. Neither changes the feed itself. When you reopen Instagram, the same reels, suggested posts, and ads are waiting.
What Zen Social does differently
Zen Social changes what you see inside Instagram:
- Blocks reels — short videos never load. The Reels tab is removed.
- Blurs suggested posts — content from accounts you don't follow is hidden behind a blur.
- Removes ads — sponsored posts filtered out.
- Replaces junk — where suggested posts were, you see fun facts (60+), quotes (30+), language phrases in 9 languages, or your own custom text.
Messages, stories, and posts from people you follow all stay. You get a calmer Instagram without deleting the app.
How it works technically
Zen Social opens Instagram's web interface inside its own filtered browser. It injects code that detects and removes reels, suggested posts, and ads before they render on screen. All filtering happens on your device — no data is sent anywhere.
